Bjørn Borud

This is my personal website.

During the day I work for Telenor Digital where I work in the Exploratory Engineering department.

I’ve worked in the Internet industry since the early 1990s when I helped found a few companies and eventually founded my own company (which was eventually acquired by another company).

For a decade I worked in the search engine industry for companies such as FAST, Overture, Yahoo and Google. I did a very wide range of things at these companies. I’ve designed and written web crawlers, systems for solving various data analysis tasks on huge amounts of data as well as search engines.

In my spare time I like to make things. Mostly electronics or 3D printed designs. I have no idea what I’m doing most of the time. Which is kind of the point.

Contact information

If you wish to contact me your best bet is probably contacting me via email. Be advised that if you dig up my phone number and call me from a number I don’t know: I probably won’t pick up the phone. Your best bet would be to send me an SMS and say who you are and what you want. You can thank telemarketers for me no longer answering calls from unknown phone numbers.

  • My email address is: bborud (at) gmail.com
  • My phone number is listed. Please send an SMS before calling.
  • My LinkedIn profile: https://no.linkedin.com/in/borud

I’m on twitter as @borud, but I’m not a very active Twitter user.

Blogs

I have been blogging off and on since the late 1990s. At some point in the mid 2000s the server hosting my blogs decided to fry itself and I was too lazy to restore the blog from the backups. I might do that some day though. Not that I think I scribbled down anything humanity will miss. In any case, I still do some blogging now and again, and here are my current blogs

Photography

I take pictures as a hobby. If you are interested in using my images comercially, please contact me for licensing. *(It isn’t that I think I’m any good: I have friends who try to make a living as photographers and if I give away my pictures I’ll be robbing them of their livelihood)
